OUR STORY

From a House Church to a Church Serving Michigan

SINCE 2001

Where It All Began

Good News Detroit Church began in March 2001 as a house church, when a small group of Korean immigrant families gathered in a home to worship together. As the congregation grew and people from many different backgrounds joined us, God blessed us with our first church building in Rochester Hills, which we purchased in 2009.

GROWING TOGETHER

A Family United by the Gospel

Over the years, Good News Detroit Church has grown into a diverse family of believers united by the gospel of Jesus Christ. Through Bible conferences, youth camps, retreats, community programs, and outreach events, we have shared the grace of God and the hope found in Christ with people throughout Metro Detroit.

A CITYWIDE CHRISTMAS GIFT

Christmas Cantata

From 2011 to 2022, we presented a Christmas Cantata at some of Detroit's best-known venues, including the Fillmore Detroit, the Masonic Temple, and the Fox Theatre. Free and open to the community, these performances welcomed thousands of guests and shared the message and joy of Christmas.

SERVING OUR COMMUNITY

Reaching Beyond Our Walls

Our outreach has continued to grow beyond traditional church programs. In 2024, we hosted Mind Workshops for Michigan educators, along with cultural programs that bring together people of different generations and backgrounds to encourage understanding, connection, and community.

OCTOBER 2025

A New Chapter in Livonia

Our new home at 8900 Middlebelt Rd, Livonia

In October 2025, Good News Detroit Church moved from Rochester Hills to Livonia, beginning a new chapter in our ministry.

The move was more than a change of address. We believe God has given us a vision to be a church that serves not just one community, but people all across Michigan.

From our new home in Livonia, we continue to strengthen our ministry in Metro Detroit while reaching farther through the gospel, Bible teaching, youth programs, community outreach, and gatherings that bring people together.

For more than twenty years, much has changed around us—our location, our congregation, and the ways we serve. But the heart of our church remains the same:

To share the grace of Jesus Christ,
to grow together in the Word of God,
and to bring the hope of the gospel to others.
